166 Deluxe Buses To Connect Bihar’s Subdivisions To District Headquarters

Starting from the second week of next month, 166 diesel-powered, non-AC deluxe buses will hit the roads to improve connectivity between Bihar’s 101 subdivisions and their respective district headquarters. The initiative is being rolled out by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC), aiming to streamline rural and semi-urban connectivity across six key cities: Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Purnia, Bhagalpur, and Gaya.
Key Features:
- 40-seater buses equipped with CCTV cameras, panic buttons, and GPS trackers for safety and tracking.
- Buses will operate across 109 designated routes, currently in the permit finalization stage.
- This is part of a broader plan to extend services up to the block level in the future.
City-Wise Bus Deployment:
- Patna: 32 buses
- Routes include: Raxaul, Narkatiaganj, Jaynagar, Gopalganj, Darbhanga, Ranchi, Gumla, Nawada, Rajgir, Ara to Ranchi, Dhanbad & Varanasi, Biharsharif to Ranchi & Bokaro, Patna to Howrah & Valmikinagar-Bhainsalotan
- Purnia: 25 buses
- Bhagalpur: 24 buses
- Darbhanga: 24 buses
- Muzaffarpur: 30 buses
- Gaya: 31 buses
Expanded Connectivity:
In addition to intra-state routes, the BSRTC also plans to extend bus services to neighboring states like Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, especially from subdivisions in Patna, Darbhanga, and Gaya.
This initiative is expected to significantly improve mobility, enhance access to government services, and boost economic activity in remote areas.
