Industry Discusses Future Of LNG At Maha LNG Conclave Hosted By Mahanagar Gas Limited

The conclave saw participation of established companies across various LNG value chain

Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), one of the largest City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies in India, organised the Maha LNG Conclave at central business district of Bandra Kurla Complex. Attracting a full house of industry stakeholders, the event had the senior leadership from both Mahanagar Gas Limited and Mahanagar LNG Private Limited (MLPL) alongside industry leaders.

The conclave began with introductory speeches by Mr. Ashu Shinghal, Managing Director and Mr. Sanjay Shende, Deputy Managing Director of MGL, followed by Mr. TL Sharnagat and Mr. Subbarao Vaddadi, Directors from MLPL and an in-depth presentation by Mr. Manas Das, Vice President (Business Development), MGL. It set the tone for the day, which was to highlight the importance of LNG in India’s energy landscape and the pivotal role MGL and MLPL are playing in this sector.

Insightful presentations ensued, from leading OEM manufacturers Ashok Leyland, represented by Zonal Head, Vaibhav Ambetkar, and Mr. Sharath US from Volvo Trucks, along with Mr. Sandeep Rairikar, Deputy General Manager from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). They helped transporters and other stakeholders understand more about the options available for them, especially for long haul transport.

A highlight was the panel discussion. featuring distinguished participants Mr. Ambetkar from Ashok Leyland, Mr. TL Sharnagat, Director, MLPL, Mr. Subbarao Vaddadi, Director, MLPL, Ms. Monika Shrivastava, Sustainability Head from JSW Cement Ltd, and Mr. Rairikar from ARAI. Moderated by Mr. Vikas Khanna, CFO, MLPL, the panel delved into critical topics related to LNG, including regulatory frameworks, the future outlook for LNG, sustainability and CO2 reduction strategies, challenges faced by the industry and necessary precautions, and other alternative fuels.

The conclave saw participation of established companies across various LNG value chain viz. including financial institutions, GAIL (India) Limited, retrofitters, logistics firms, transporters, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
