Centre Approves 30-Day Ad-hoc Bonus for Central Government Employees for FY 2024-25

The Union Government has approved the grant of a Non-Productivity Linked Bonus (Ad-hoc Bonus) equivalent to 30 days’ emoluments for the accounting year 2024-25 to eligible Central Government employees.
According to the official order issued by the Department of Expenditure, the bonus will be applicable to all Central Government employees in Group ‘C’ and all non-gazetted employees in Group ‘B’, who are not covered under any Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) scheme. The order will also extend to personnel of the Central Para-Military Forces, Armed Forces, and employees of Union Territory Administrations following the Central Government pay pattern.
The calculation ceiling for the bonus has been fixed at ₹7,000 per month. Based on this ceiling, the 30 days’ Ad-hoc Bonus works out to ₹6,908, after standard calculations.
The benefit will be available to all eligible employees who were in service on March 31, 2025, and who have rendered at least six months of continuous service during the year. Employees with less than a full year of service will receive the bonus on a pro-rata basis, rounded to the nearest month.
In addition, casual labourers with a continuous service of 240 days (or 206 days in case of 5-day week offices) for three years or more will also be eligible. They will receive a bonus amount of ₹1,184.
The order clarifies that employees on deputation, suspension, re-employment, or other special cases will be governed by conditions laid down in an attached annexure.
The expenditure on account of this bonus will be met from within the sanctioned budget of Ministries and Departments for FY 2025-26. In the case of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, the order has been issued in consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
The decision is expected to benefit lakhs of Central Government employees across the country, providing them with festive season relief.
