Ingersoll Rand Expands India Footprint with ₹170 Crore Manufacturing Facility in Sanand, Gujarat

Facility designed for sustainability and operational excellence, aligning with global standards and enhancing local job creation

Ingersoll Rand (India) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand Inc. (NYSE: IR), has announced the inauguration of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat. With an investment of ₹170 crore, this marks one of Ingersoll Rand’s largest commitments to India, reinforcing its focus on innovation, sustainability, and regional growth.

The Sanand facility will begin production by the fourth quarter of FY2025 and is expected to enhance the company’s annual manufacturing capacity by 1.5 times by 2028, with scalability up to twice the current capacity by 2030. The existing plant is operating at full capacity of 60,000 units per annum.

Strategic Investment in India’s Growth

The new facility underscores Ingersoll Rand’s alignment with the Government of India’s Make in India initiative and strengthens its global export ambitions. It will initially produce engineered-to-order products such as centrifugal compressors, gas compressors, refrigeration dryers, nitrogen generators, and large reciprocating compressors for key sectors including pharmaceuticals, electronics, defense, textiles, and automotive.

Speaking at the launch, Sunil Khanduja, Managing Director, Ingersoll Rand India, said, “Building on over a century of presence in India, this investment reinforces our commitment to the region. The Sanand facility represents our focus on sustainable manufacturing and world-class talent, strengthening India’s position in global innovation.”

Gareth Topping, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Compression Systems and Services (EMEIA), added, “India is one of our fastest-growing markets. The Sanand facility gives us the scale, flexibility, and technology to serve our customers better while upholding Ingersoll Rand’s global standards of manufacturing precision.”

Sustainability and Employment Impact

Spread over 65,856 square meters, the facility has been designed as a green manufacturing hub, operating entirely on renewable power. It incorporates zero-liquid discharge, rainwater harvesting, wastewater recycling, and AI-driven predictive maintenance systems to achieve net-zero operations within five years.

The facility is expected to generate significant employment opportunities for local talent and indirect jobs through supplier and service networks. Ingersoll Rand is also investing in skill development and training programs to build a strong local talent pipeline.

With this milestone, Ingersoll Rand continues to “Make Life Better” by combining engineering excellence, sustainability, and innovation to support India’s industrial and clean manufacturing ecosystem.
