IIM Jammu Inaugurates Young Officer Development Programme for NHPC
The week-long programme has brought together 20 officials from NHPC for an intensive learning experience aimed at enhancing leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and sectoral understanding

The Indian Institute of Management Jammu inaugurated the Young Officer Development Programme for participants from NHPC Limited, a Government of India Navratna enterprise, at its Jagti Campus on Monday.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean (Faculty and Research), IIM Jammu. Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, along with Programme Directors Dr. Guangpuanang Kahmei and Dr. Lalit Pankaj, were also present on the occasion. The programme commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and the beginning of a transformative learning journey.

Addressing the participants, Prof. Jabir Ali highlighted the critical importance of the energy sector as the backbone of economic growth and emphasized NHPC’s role as a green organization carrying significant national responsibility. He encouraged participants to think beyond conventional perspectives, engage in knowledge exchange, and actively participate in academic discussions. He also urged them to fully utilize the institute’s academic ecosystem, library resources, and green campus environment, describing the programme as a rare opportunity to relive student life while gaining renewed insights.
Prof. Prashant Mishra described executive education programmes as a reflection of “Mini India,” bringing together diverse professional experiences and perspectives. He acknowledged NHPC as a highly respected organization and stressed the importance of co-learning, cross-learning, and collaborative engagement throughout the programme.
Dr. Guangpuanang Kahmei outlined the academic roadmap for the week, highlighting sessions on strategic thinking, conflict management, high-performance teams, emerging trends, and the future of work in the power sector. He encouraged participants to actively contribute to meaningful dialogue and experiential learning.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Lalit Pankaj expressed confidence that the enthusiasm and engagement of participants would continue throughout the programme, fostering lasting professional growth and meaningful learning outcomes.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with the national anthem.
