PESB Recommends Atul Gupta as New CMD of Engineers India Limited
The present CMD of EIL, Ms. Vartika Shukla who was selected on selected for this post on 23.04.2021, superannuates on 28.02.2026


In a significant development for the engineering consultancy and energy infrastructure sector, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Atul Gupta for the position of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Engineers India Limited (EIL), a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
Gupta currently serves as Director (Commercial) in EIL and brings decades of leadership experience across project execution, commercial operations, and strategic business development within the organisation.
Highly Competitive Selection
The interview attracted exceptional interest from industry observers, given EIL’s influential role as a premier engineering consultancy engaged in key sectors such as refineries, petrochemicals, pipelines, infrastructure, and energy transition projects both in India and internationally.
Atul Gupta was selected from a strong and diverse pool of candidates, which included senior leaders from EIL, GAIL, IOCL, Bridge & Roof Company (India) Ltd., and Indian Railways.
