Avaada Unveils 11 Solar Plants in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal Under MSKVY 2.0, Empowering Farmers with Clean Energy

The initiative aims to provide farmers with reliable daytime power for irrigation

In a major boost to Maharashtra’s clean energy transition and rural development, diversified energy firm Avaada Group has inaugurated 11 solar power projects in Yavatmal district under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0. The initiative aims to provide farmers with reliable daytime power for irrigation, reducing dependence on night-time supply and enhancing agricultural productivity.

The newly commissioned plants include:

  • Kinhi (4 MW)
  • Baldi (3 MW)
  • Dongarkharda (3 MW)
  • Bansi (2 MW)
  • Patan (2 MW)
  • Mhasola (5 MW)
  • Galwa (2 MW)
  • Pathrad (4 MW)
  • Parjana (4 MW)
  • Sawargaon (3 MW)
  • Sarfali (3 MW)

Together, these projects will directly benefit nearly 14,900 farmers across 167 villages, offering improved irrigation facilities, lower operational costs, and additional income opportunities through land leasing for solar installations.

Speaking on the launch, Mr. Vineet Mittal, Chairman of Avaada Group, said: “We are honoured to partner with the Government of Maharashtra in this transformative journey. The Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 is a model for how clean energy can directly uplift rural communities. This project is a testimony to Hon’ble CM’s visionary leadership, bringing reliable solar power to farmers and contributing to both rural development and India’s green energy mission.”

Scaling Clean Energy in Maharashtra

  • Avaada is currently executing over 1,132 MW of solar power projects under MSKVY 2.0 across major districts including Nashik, Pune, Sangli, Yavatmal, Ahmednagar, and Beed.
  • Launched initially in 2017 and upgraded as MSKVY 2.0, the scheme targets the solarisation of 30% of Maharashtra’s agricultural feeders by developing nearly 7,000 MW of decentralised solar projects in the 0.5–25 MW range, located close to high-load substations.
  • Benefits for Farmers and the State

The programme offers multiple advantages:

  • Farmers gain reliable daytime electricity, improved crop planning, lower energy costs, reduced accident risks, and additional lease income.
  • The state and discoms benefit from reduced subsidy burden, lower power procurement costs, and improved grid efficiency.
  • The environment gains from reduced reliance on fossil fuels, lowering Maharashtra’s carbon footprint.

Avaada’s Renewable Energy Commitment

The Group said its participation in MSKVY 2.0 aligns with its wider renewable energy strategy, spanning solar PV manufacturing, green hydrogen, energy storage, and sustainable data centres.

With these projects, Avaada strengthens its role as a key partner in India’s energy transition while ensuring that farmers remain at the centre of Maharashtra’s solar revolution.
