Bank Pensioners, Retired Employees And Officers Stage Dharna For Their Long Pending Demands
Voice of Banking says that before senior pensioners become too senior or pass away, government should accept their demands

Thousands of bank pensioners, retired employees and officers from across the country staged a dharna today for their long pending demands. The bank pensioners’ organization CBPRO also submitted a memorandum of its demands to the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance.

Main demands of pensioners:
- The pension of bank pensioners should also be revised like RBI, NABARD.
- Health insurance should be made available to retired bank employees at concessional rates.
- Pensioners’ organizations should be called to discuss the demands of retired bank employees and officers.
- Special allowance should be included in the basic salary for calculating pension and gratuity.
- The commuted amount of pension should be recovered in 10 years instead of 15 years.
The government should think why senior pensioners have to take to the streets to get their demands accepted. Although the government has repeatedly said that these demands will be considered, some demands like family pension and 100% DA neutralisation for pensioners up to 2003 have already been accepted by the government.
