BCCL CMD inaugurates newly constructed badminton court complex at Coal Nagar, Dhanbad

The modern sports facility features two wooden-surfaced badminton courts developed for the officers and employees of the company

The Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), Manoj Kumar Agarwal, today formally inaugurated the company’s newly constructed badminton court complex at Nehru Complex, Coal Nagar.

The modern sports facility features two wooden-surfaced badminton courts developed for the officers and employees of the company, reflecting BCCL’s continued focus on employee welfare and promotion of a healthy work culture.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Director (Human Resources) Murali Krishna Ramaiya, Director (Finance) Rajesh Kumar, President of Diksha Mahila Mandal Archana Agarwal, Vice President Purbita Ramaiya, Neeta Kumar, along with General Managers of Coal Bhawan Headquarters, Regional General Managers, Heads of Departments, members of Regional Women’s Committees, officers and employees from headquarters and various operational areas. Member of the BCCL Welfare Board K.K. Singh and representatives of various labour organisations were also present on the occasion.

The programme commenced with the welcome of guests, followed by a welcome address delivered by Kiran Rani Nayak, Head of Department (Welfare). The CMD and other distinguished guests were felicitated with mementos during the ceremony.

Following the formal inauguration, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal inaugurated the playing arena by participating in a symbolic inaugural badminton match along with other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Agarwal emphasized that sports such as badminton contribute significantly to both physical and mental well-being while fostering harmony, teamwork and positive energy among employees. He reiterated that BCCL remains committed to the holistic development of its workforce and continues to prioritize strengthening workplace infrastructure alongside health and wellness facilities.

The programme proceedings were conducted and the vote of thanks was delivered by Senior Manager (Officer Establishment) Mrs. Gargi Mukhopadhyay.
