BCCL Accelerates Growth with 15 MTPA Block-E Project and Operationalisation of Bhojudih Washery

Capacity expansion and coal beneficiation initiatives to strengthen coking coal supply for the domestic steel sector

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) has announced significant business developments, marking a major step forward in its ongoing capacity expansion and operational enhancement plans. The initiatives underscore the company’s strategic focus on strengthening its core coking coal operations, improving efficiency, and supporting the growing demand from India’s steel sector.

Major Capacity Expansion – Block-E (15 MTPA)

As part of its long-term growth roadmap, BCCL is set to initiate tendering for the ambitious 15 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) Block-E project within the current financial year. The project is expected to substantially augment the company’s production capacity.

Upon commissioning, the Block-E project is projected to enhance BCCL’s overall production by nearly 15 percent. This significant addition will not only strengthen the company’s coking coal portfolio but also reinforce its long-term supply position, particularly in catering to the increasing requirements of the domestic steel industry.

The move aligns with BCCL’s broader objective of ensuring sustainable production growth while contributing to India’s expanding industrial and infrastructure landscape.

Operationalisation of Bhojudih Washery (2 MTPA)

In another key milestone, BCCL has successfully operationalised the 2 MTPA Bhojudih Washery. The facility is expected to ramp up to peak capacity within the next two to three weeks.

The operationalisation of the washery will lead to a rise in washed coal output, enabling better realisations and enhanced value addition. By supplying higher-quality washed coking coal, the facility will play a crucial role in supporting downstream steel manufacturers and improving overall supply chain efficiency.

Strengthening Core Operations

With the Block-E expansion and the commissioning of the Bhojudih Washery, BCCL continues to reinforce its position as a key player in India’s coking coal segment. The twin initiatives reflect the company’s commitment to boosting production capabilities, enhancing coal beneficiation, and meeting the evolving needs of the domestic steel sector.

BCCL remains focused on sustainable growth and operational excellence as it contributes to India’s broader industrial development goals.
