BCCL Celebrates 51st Foundation Day of Coal India with Zeal and Enthusiasm
Vendors Meet also organized under Vigilance Awareness Week

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, celebrated the 51st Foundation Day of Coal India Limited with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at its Coal Bhawan Headquarters in Dhanbad. The event featured a series of activities including Prabhat Pheri, flag hoisting, tributes to martyrs, and distribution of promotion orders to employees.
The celebration began with a vibrant Prabhat Pheri, in which over 200 students of DAV Coal Nagar participated along with senior officials, officers, labor organization representatives, and CISF personnel. The procession started at the Coal Bhawan gate, passed through the main intersection, and concluded at the Martyrs’ Memorial Square, where floral tributes were offered to the brave coal workers who sacrificed their lives in service of the nation. A two-minute silence was observed, followed by garlanding of the miner statue at the Coal Bhawan main gate.

Flag Hoisting and Tribute to Coal Workers
At the administrative building complex, Shri Murali Krishna Ramaiah, Director (Human Resources), hoisted the Coal India flag and reiterated his loyalty and commitment towards the organization. He was accompanied by Director (Technical/Operations) Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Chief Medical Services Dr. Poonam Dubey, General Manager (Human Resources) Mr. Kumar Manoj, General Manager (Manpower Planning) Mr. Apurva Kumar Mitra, General Manager (Finance) Mr. M.S. Raju, General Manager (Material Management) Mr. Parthasis Ram, General Manager (Administration) Mr. Arpan Ghosh, General Manager (Electrical & Mechanical) Mr. R.R. Karna, and several other senior officials.

Representatives from various labor unions — Mr. Sanjeet Singh, Mr. Arun Prakash Pandey, Mr. Umesh Singh, Mr. Rajkumar Kanojia, Mr. Murari Tanti, and Mr. K.K. Singh — also attended the ceremony, along with CISF personnel including Inspector (Executive) Mrs. Anita Dang and ASI (Executive) Mr. A.K. Khan.
In his address, Mr. Ramaiah commended the contribution of every member of the Coal India family. He said, “The success of Coal India is the result of the collective effort, hard work, and discipline of our employees, officers, workers, and partner organizations. Over the past 51 years, Coal India has become a pillar of the nation’s energy security and a symbol of commitment to nation-building.”
He further added that BCCL remains dedicated to employee welfare and the creation of a safe, transparent, and progressive work culture.
Promotion Orders Distributed to 1,050 Non-Executive Employees
In a proud moment for the BCCL workforce, promotion orders were distributed to 1,050 non-executive employees as part of the Foundation Day celebrations. This initiative reflects BCCL’s continuous efforts toward employee growth and motivation.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Kumar Manoj, General Manager (Human Resources), who expressed gratitude on behalf of the management to all employees, guests, and participants.
‘Vendors Meet’ Workshop Held under Vigilance Awareness Week
In line with the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, a ‘Vendors Meet’ workshop was also organized at BCCL Headquarters by the Contract Management Cell (CMC) in collaboration with the Vigilance Department.

The workshop was chaired by Mr. M.R. Srivastava, General Manager (CMC), with Mr. R.R. Karna, General Manager (Electrical & Mechanical), gracing the occasion as the special guest. Around 25 vendors representing various organizations and enterprises participated in the interactive session.
During his address, Mr. Srivastava reaffirmed BCCL’s commitment to ensuring a fair, transparent, and efficient contract management system, emphasizing that the company seeks to foster mutual trust and accountability with its business partners.

A comprehensive PowerPoint presentation was delivered by the CMC team, highlighting BCCL’s tendering system, GeM portal operations, contract management practices, and Code of Conduct in Public Procurement. The presentation also explained common tendering errors and ways to improve efficiency and documentation.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, where vendors’ queries were addressed by senior officials. Chief Manager (Mining/CMC) Mr. Bikram Kumar, Senior Manager (Mining/Vigilance) Mr. Naveen Thakur, and several officers of the CMC and Vigilance departments actively participated. Manager (Mining/CMC) Mr. Abhishek Jha conducted the session and delivered the vote of thanks.
