Free Eye Check-up Camp Organised at Central Hospital, BCCL on Coal India Foundation Day

Essay Writing and Painting Competitions Held Under Vigilance Awareness Week at BCCL Headquarters

On the occasion of the 51st Foundation Day of Coal India Limited, a free eye check-up camp was organised today at Central Hospital, BCCL for the prevention of blindness and consultation on diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and other eye diseases. The camp was inaugurated by Mrs. Archana Agarwal, President of Diksha Mahila Mandal, BCCL, along with Mrs. Purbita Ramaiya, Vice President, and Mrs. Ranjana Singh, by lighting a ceremonial lamp and cutting the ribbon.

The event was graced by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Bandana, heads of departments, senior doctors, health workers, and nursing staff. In her address, Mrs. Agarwal emphasised that “health and well-being are the cornerstones of any society’s progress.” She added that such health camps not only help in diagnosis but also play a crucial role in spreading awareness about preventive healthcare and social responsibility. She further highlighted that Diksha Mahila Mandal remains committed to the welfare of BCCL families and the local community through initiatives focused on health promotion, women’s empowerment, and social service.

During the event, the members of Diksha Mahila Mandal distributed fruits to nearly 160 patients admitted in various medical wards and inquired about their well-being. They also interacted with doctors and hospital staff regarding medical facilities and patient care. On arrival, the dignitaries were warmly welcomed by CMO (CHD) Dr. Bandana, who presented them with bouquets. Other notable attendees included Dr. Alka Singh (Head, Obstetrics and Gynecology), Dr. Manjari Singh (Head, Dentistry), and Mr. Vineet Sinha, Manager (Human Resources).

To mark the Coal India Foundation Day celebrations, Central Hospital, BCCL has planned a series of health-related programmes in the coming days. On November 4, the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics will organise a ‘Women’s Health Awareness Program’ under the theme ‘Empowered Women, Healthy Life: Every Age, Every Stage’. On November 5, the Department of Dentistry will conduct a free dental check-up and treatment camp, while on November 6, the Department of Medicine will hold a diabetes detection camp, HbA1c testing, hypertension screening, and airway disease (respiratory disease) screening. These initiatives aim to promote preventive healthcare and awareness among BCCL employees, their families, and the surrounding community.

Meanwhile, as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, essay writing and painting competitions were organised at Coal Bhawan Headquarters, BCCL for the spouses and children of officers and employees. The theme of the competitions centred on vigilance, honesty, transparency, and ethics, encouraging family-level awareness and the development of integrity among the younger generation.

In the essay writing competition, participants shared their views on “Vigilance is our Shared Responsibility” and highlighted the importance of ethical work culture in an organisation. The painting competition saw enthusiastic participation from children who expressed messages of honesty, vigilance, and moral values through their art.

Officials appreciated the participants and remarked that such initiatives strengthen the collective spirit of vigilance, transparency, and ethics within the BCCL family. The event was attended by Mr. Naveen Thakur (Senior Manager, Mining/Vigilance), Mr. Rajesh Kumar (Manager, Vigilance), Mr. Ayush Kumar (Manager, Vigilance), and several officers and employees of the Vigilance Department.
