BCCL Holds Convocation Ceremony for First Batch of Multi-Skill Development Institute at Karmatand

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) marked a significant milestone in its skill development initiatives with the successful convocation ceremony for the first batch of students from its Multi-Skill Development Institute (MSDI-IV) at Karmatand Township, developed under the Jharia Master Plan.

The ceremony celebrated the successful completion of training by students enrolled in IT-CCE (Customer Care Executive), Beautician, and Fitter (Leveling and Balancing) trades, aimed at empowering youth from project-affected areas.

The event was presided over by Manoj Kumar Agarwal, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of BCCL. Among other dignitaries present were Director (Human Resources) Murali Krishna Ramaiah, Director (Technical) Sanjay Kumar Singh, General Manager (Administration) Arpan Ghosh, and General Manager (Security) Hafizul Qureshi, along with officials from National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Skill India, and George Telegraph Training Institute.

The program commenced with a formal welcome, the national anthem, and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. This was followed by the distribution of mark sheets and certificates to successful trainees by the CMD and other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal highlighted BCCL’s commitment beyond energy production, emphasizing its role in social responsibility and community development. He underlined that skill development is crucial in today’s time to enable youth to become self-reliant and secure dignified employment. He encouraged students to pursue continuous learning, discipline, and skill enhancement, while reaffirming that BCCL will expand such initiatives to benefit more local youth.

The MSDI at Karmatand Township has been established as part of the rehabilitation efforts for families affected by underground fires in the Jharia coalfields. Each of the three trades had 30 students, all of whom successfully completed the three-month free training program.

Notably, all successful candidates have secured employment opportunities in reputed institutions, underscoring the effectiveness of the initiative.

Students and their parents also shared their experiences during the ceremony, expressing gratitude towards BCCL for providing meaningful skill development and livelihood opportunities.

The event was also attended by Aninda Dutta, along with several other dignitaries. Assistant Manager (CD) Mrs. Rupal Bhargava and team played a key role in organizing the event. The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks.
