BCCL Organises ‘Vendors Meet’ and e-MB Training under Vigilance Awareness Week 2025

Workshops Focus on Transparency, Efficiency, and Digitization in Procurement and Project Monitoring

As part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) organised two significant events at its headquarters and training centre today — a “Vendors Meet” workshop at Coal Bhawan and a training programme on “Use of Tablets for Real Time Data Entry under e-MB System” at Kalyan Bhawan, HRD, Jagjivan Nagar. Both programmes underscored BCCL’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and digital transformation in operations and procurement.

Vendors Meet Promotes Ethical and Transparent Procurement Practices

The Vendors Meet was organised by the Materials Management Department in collaboration with the Vigilance Department of BCCL. The programme was chaired by Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Technical Operations), and attended by Chief Vigilance Officer Mr. Aman Raj, along with senior officials including Dr. Poonam Dubey, GM (C&MS); Mr. Parthasis Ram, GM (Materials Management); Mr. Anand Kumar, GM (Materials Management); Mr. M.S. Raju, GM (Finance); Mr. R.R. Karna, GM (E&M); Mr. Arun Kumar, GM (Security); and Mr. Arpan Ghosh, GM (Administration).

Around 45 vendors participated in the event both physically and virtually

In his keynote address, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh emphasised that maintaining fairness, integrity, and transparency in procurement is the cornerstone of organizational success. “Ethical and responsible business relations between vendors and BCCL are essential for long-term trust and growth,” he said.

CVO Mr. Aman Raj reiterated that vigilance is not just about compliance but continuous improvement. He urged all stakeholders to integrate transparency, accountability, and ethical practices into daily operations, reinforcing BCCL’s commitment to fair and efficient procurement processes.

The event also featured a video message from Coal India Chairman Mr. P.M. Prasad and CVO, Coal India, Mr. Brajesh Kumar Tripathi, highlighting the role of ethics and discipline in business conduct.

The Materials Management Department made a detailed presentation on GeM portal rules, public procurement code of conduct, and common bidder errors, followed by an interactive Q&A session between vendors and officials.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by GM (Materials Management) Mr. Anand Kumar and Stage Operation Manager (Official Language) Mr. Udayveer Singh.

Training on e-MB System Highlights BCCL’s Push for Digitization and Real-Time Monitoring

The second event of the day, a one-day training programme on “Use of Tablets for Real Time Data Entry under E-MB (Electronic Measurement Book) System”, was organised by the Human Resource Development Department of BCCL. The session was presided over by Mr. Ashok Kumar, GM (Civil), with Mr. Vipul Kumar, Deputy Manager (Civil) and nodal in-charge of e-MB real-time entry, serving as the resource person.

The training aimed to familiarise Senior Overseers, Overseers, and Engineering Assistants from the Civil Department with the technical aspects of real-time data entry through tablets in the e-MB system. Participants received practical exposure to using tablets for module entry, document uploading, and data synchronization.

Addressing the participants, Mr. Ashok Kumar noted that “Digitization and real-time monitoring are essential for efficiency, quality, and transparency. The e-MB system enhances project tracking, accountability, and timely decision-making.”

The initiative marks a first-of-its-kind implementation across all Coal India subsidiaries, where BCCL has distributed tablets to field engineers for seamless e-MB data entry — a major step towards paperless, digital reporting and monitoring.

The event saw active participation from 45 civil engineers, with vital support from Mr. Radheshyam Dubey, Senior Manager (Mining); Mr. Umesh Paswan, Senior Manager (Excavation); and the HRD team.

Conclusion

Through the Vendors Meet and e-MB System training programme held under Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, BCCL demonstrated its dual focus on strengthening ethical governance and advancing digital transformation. Both initiatives highlight the company’s proactive approach to transparency, operational efficiency, and stakeholder trust.
