Health Check-up Camp Organised at BCCL Headquarters
GI Endoscopy and Colonoscopy Services Launched at Central Hospital

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) organised a two-day health check-up camp for women employees at Coal Bhawan Headquarters while also launching advanced diagnostic services at the Central Hospital, marking a significant step towards strengthening healthcare facilities for employees and the community.
The health camp, organised under the aegis of Women in Public Sector (WIPS), BCCL, began on March 9 and will continue till March 10. It offers several important health screening facilities including Bone Mineral Density tests, anaemia screening and breast cancer screening.
The initiative aims to raise health awareness among women employees and ensure their overall well-being through timely medical tests, counselling and treatment guidance.
The camp was inaugurated by Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Poonam Dubey in the presence of senior officials including General Manager (HR) Kumar Manoj, General Manager (Finance) M.S. Raju, Head of Department (CSR/Industrial Relations) Surendra Bhushan, HoD (VIP Cell) and WIPS Co-Coordinator Nirmala Kiran, HoD (Officer Establishment) Shobha J. Kujur, HoD (Welfare) Kiran Rani Nayak and HoD (Employee Establishment) Madhusmita Lakra, along with other General Managers, Heads of Departments and women employees.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Dubey said that International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to recognise the achievements and contributions of women in society and the workplace.
She emphasised that women employees play a crucial role in organisational growth and development, and ensuring their health and well-being is a key responsibility of the organisation.
Dr. Dubey encouraged women employees to undergo regular health check-ups, maintain a balanced diet and adopt a healthy lifestyle. She noted that early detection through timely medical screening can help treat several serious diseases more effectively.
The camp also featured a health kiosk machine capable of conducting both invasive and non-invasive health check-ups. On the first day itself, a large number of women employees from the headquarters participated in the camp and received consultations from specialist doctors.
Traditional Costume Competition Highlights Cultural Diversity
In the second session of the programme, a traditional costume competition was organised in the Coal Bhawan auditorium where women employees showcased traditional attire representing different states of India.
Participants highlighted the cultural diversity of the country while also sharing their views on women’s empowerment, equality and equal opportunities at the workplace.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from women officers and staff members and was widely appreciated by attendees.
Health Awareness Activities Across BCCL Areas
Besides the headquarters event, various activities were organised across different operational areas of BCCL. These included health camps, mehndi competitions, thali decoration contests, traditional costume competitions and awareness programmes related to women’s health and empowerment.
Advanced GI Endoscopy and Colonoscopy Services Launched
In another significant development, Central Hospital Dhanbad (CHD), BCCL, launched Upper GI Endoscopy and Colonoscopy services on the occasion.
The introduction of these modern diagnostic facilities will strengthen the hospital’s capacity to detect and treat gastrointestinal diseases more effectively.

The initiative has been undertaken under the guidance of BCCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Manoj Kumar Agarwal and Director (HR) Murali Krishna Ramaiah, as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare facilities for employees, their families and the surrounding community.
The services were launched under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer (I/C) Dr. Bandana and Head of Department (Surgery) Dr. Anish Kumar Gandhi.
Expressing satisfaction over the initiative, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal said the introduction of advanced diagnostic services like Upper GI Endoscopy and Colonoscopy will enable timely detection and treatment of serious gastrointestinal diseases.
“These facilities will significantly enhance healthcare services and provide access to modern medical treatment for employees and residents of the surrounding region,” he said.
Hospital authorities stated that the services will ensure faster and more accurate diagnosis of stomach and intestinal diseases, enabling patients to receive better and more effective treatment locally.
Three-Day Women’s Health Camp at Central Hospital
Alongside the new services, a three-day women’s health camp has also been organised at the Central Hospital from March 9 to 11.
The camp includes anaemia testing, bone mineral density screening and cervical cancer vaccination awareness. On the first day of the camp, 88 beneficiaries underwent haemoglobin testing.
BCCL management reiterated that the company remains committed to strengthening its healthcare infrastructure and providing quality medical services to employees, their families and the local community.
