Bihar’s Daughter Anshika Shines, Wins Gold Medal in Khelo India NTPC Zonal Archery Tournament

Over 300 archers from six states compete; winners receive medals and cash prizes

Bringing glory to Bihar, Anshika from Munger has clinched the gold medal in the women’s recurve event at the Khelo India NTPC Zonal Archery Tournament 2025, hosted for the first time in Bihar at Patliputra Sports Complex, Patna. In the men’s recurve category, Jharkhand’s Goldie Mishra emerged as the champion.

The two-day tournament, which began on September 13, saw the participation of 200 players in the men’s category and 120 in the women’s category, with 72 players representing Bihar. Teams, coaches, and officials from Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and other states joined the event.

In the women’s recurve event, West Bengal’s Room Biswas secured silver, while Basanti Mahato claimed bronze. Odisha’s Pragya Dalai finished fourth.

In the men’s recurve event, Jharkhand’s Krishna Pinga bagged silver, Chhattisgarh’s Akash Raj took bronze, and Bihar’s Shubham Kumar finished fourth.

The medalists were felicitated by Sports Department Additional Chief Secretary Dr. B. Rajender, Department Director Mahendra Kumar, Bihar State Sports Authority DG & CEO Ravindran Shankar, Director Ravindra Nath Choudhary, Deputy Director Himanshu Sahu, Sports Executives Anandi Kumar and Anjali Kumari, Bihar Olympic Association President Ajay Kumar, and Bihar Archery Association Secretary Manoj Kumar.

As part of the prize distribution, winners received ₹20,000 for first place, ₹15,000 for second, ₹10,000 for third, and ₹5,000 for fourth place.

This prestigious event marks a milestone for Bihar, showcasing the state’s growing prominence in sports and providing a strong platform for young archery talents like Anshika to shine at the national level.
