Cabinet Approves 78-Day Productivity Linked Bonus for Railway Employees
Over 10.91 Lakh Railway Employees to Receive Bonus Ahead of Festive Season

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the payment of Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ wages for railway employees, amounting to ₹1,865.68 crore.
The decision will benefit nearly 10.91 lakh non-gazetted railway staff, including Track Maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Helpers, Pointsmen, Ministerial Staff, and other Group ‘C’ employees.
The maximum payable amount under PLB is ₹17,951 per employee, which will be disbursed ahead of the Durga Puja and Dussehra festivals, in line with the government’s tradition of rewarding railway employees during this festive season.
Government sources highlighted that the PLB scheme serves as a strong incentive, motivating employees to enhance efficiency and contribute to better performance of the Indian Railways.
In the financial year 2024–25, Indian Railways achieved record operational milestones, including loading 1,614.90 million tonnes of cargo and carrying nearly 7.3 billion passengers.
This bonus payout recognizes the crucial role played by railway employees in sustaining growth, improving services, and contributing to the nation’s economy.
