The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended Garima Singh, Branch Head and Senior Manager of UCO Bank, Kotwali Road Branch, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with a bribery case of ₹4 lakh.

The case was registered on September 1, 2025, following a complaint filed by a borrower. As per the allegations, the complainant’s firm had availed a cash credit (CC) loan of ₹1 crore from the said branch. However, only ₹90 lakh was disbursed, while the remaining ₹10 lakh was allegedly withheld by the Branch Head with mala fide intentions.

According to the complaint, when the complainant’s son visited the branch to request release of the pending ₹10 lakh, Garima Singh allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹4 lakh, calculated as a 4% commission on the sanctioned loan amount.

Acting on the complaint, CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed, along with an accomplice—a private individual—while demanding and accepting an illegal gratification of ₹2 lakh, the first installment of the total demanded bribe.

Further investigation is underway.
