Inspirational Celebration of International Women’s Day at CCL with the Message of ‘Give to Gain’

Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm and inspiration at the Jawaharnagar Club in Ranchi, under the theme “Give to Gain.” The event highlighted the strength, resilience, and achievements of women while promoting the spirit of empowerment and contribution.

The programme witnessed the gracious presence of Mrs. Rita Tiwari and Mrs. Neeru Hanjura, who added distinction to the celebrations. The event began with the inauguration of BMI and Bone Density Test facilities, organized by Gandhinagar Hospital, CCL Ranchi, under the aegis of Women in Public Sector (WIPS).

A Rangoli competition organized during the event drew enthusiastic participation from employees. The colourful creations were evaluated by the guests, and the winners were felicitated by Mrs. Rita Tiwari and Mrs. Neeru Hanjura.

The main programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by a Ganesh Vandana performed by Ms. Alpana Aditi. Welcoming the guests, Ms. Beeva Oraon, GM (Systems) and WIPS CCL Coordinator, greeted the participants, while Mrs. Kavita Gupta, GM (HR), CCL, read out the inspiring message sent by the Union Minister of Coal and Mines on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Mrs. Suchandra Sinha, President and GM (E&M), WIPS CCL, presented the programme outline and shared the future action plans of WIPS, emphasizing the importance of women’s participation in organizational growth and nation-building.

A highlight of the event was the screening of a short film titled “Hamari Binda,” produced by CCL’s CC&PR department. The film portrayed the inspiring life story of Ms. Binda Kumari, a peon at CCL, who courageously took responsibility for her family after the death of her father. She supported and educated her siblings, arranged their marriages, and simultaneously served the organization with dedication in CCL’s B&K Area and CSR Department at Headquarters. The film also showcased her social contribution, including the construction of a temple in her village Manatu, earning heartfelt appreciation and applause from the audience.

The programme also featured inspiring addresses by eminent women from diverse fields, including Prof. Rashmi Verma from the Department of Mass Communication, Central University of Jharkhand; Lt. Col. Durgavati; Mrs. Monica Gunjan Arya, journalist, activist and founder of Palo Na; and Mrs. Jayshree Devi Indawar, President of Stambh Trust and renowned Sohrai painting artist. The speakers encouraged the women workforce of CCL and highlighted their vital role in nation-building and energy security. All speakers were honoured during the event.

The event was further enlivened by vibrant cultural performances, including a traditional tribal welcome dance, melodious songs by Suchitra Mukherjee, Suchandra Sinha and Shweta Shalini Hansda, instrumental performances by Pooja Prasad, and captivating dance performances by Pinky, Umang Singh, Meenakshi, Premlata, Dr. Sanwali and Surabhi Bhagat.

On this special occasion, 15 outstanding women achievers from CCL were honoured for their exemplary contributions to the organization.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Kavita Gupta, GM (HR/NEE), followed by an enthusiastic open dance in which participants joined together to celebrate the spirit of womanhood.

Central Coalfields Limited saluted the courage, dedication and leadership of its women workforce, recognizing their invaluable role in driving progress, ensuring energy security, and contributing to nation-building.
