CCL Land Scam Takes Political Colour As Leader Of Opposition Launches Scathing Attack On Hemant Soren Government

BJP state president and Leader of Opposition in Jharkhand, Babulal Marandi, has launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Hemant Soren over alleged corruption and document tampering related to 417 acres of forest land in the Chandragupta coal project under Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) in Hazaribagh district.

In a strongly worded post on his Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) profiles, Marandi described the situation as:

“Operation Jungle Loot” of Jharkhand Government

He alleged:

• Records of 417 acres of forest land have mysteriously gone missing overnight, suggesting a large-scale land scam worth crores in the Chandrapura Open Cast Project.

• The state government has remained silent (“maun vrat”) on this serious issue.

• Documents were tampered with, including tearing pages from the original register and forgery in land ownership records.

• These acts could not have occurred without the complicity of government officials.

Citing the CID’s own findings, he said:

• Records related to lease, compensation, and acquisition of forest land were made to disappear in 2021 and 2022.

• Despite this, there is an unexplained delay in filing an FIR, raising further suspicion.

Marandi further questioned the allotment of the disputed land to a Hyderabad-based firm, Sushi Infra and Mining, suggesting that the decision might have been orchestrated from within the Ranchi Secretariat.

His direct questions to the Chief Minister included:

• “How did the bureaucracy get a free hand to sell forest land under your rule?”

• “Why does your government keep hiding behind retired officers?”

He concluded by saying:

• “The silence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren clearly tells that not only the forest, but the government has also been sold.”

This issue is likely to escalate politically and may prompt calls for a formal investigation or judicial inquiry if pursued by opposition parties.
