The 36th National Convention of the Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) was successfully held in Mumbai to commemorate the organisation’s foundation day, bringing together women professionals from across India’s public sector ecosystem.
WIPS, recognised as the largest network of women in the public sector, comprises 91 Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and nationalised banks as Corporate Life Members, along with nearly 16,000 Life Members across four regional chapters nationwide. This year’s convention was organised by the WIPS Western Region under the theme “Her Era: Now and Beyond,” highlighting the evolving role of women in leadership and nation-building.
Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) marked a strong presence at the national event, with a delegation of 15 women employees representing diverse disciplines from different operational areas and headquarters. The team was led by General Manager (E&M) Mrs. Suchandra Sinha. The participation was among the highest recorded from subsidiaries of Coal India Limited and other PSUs attending the convention.
The convention featured a series of insightful and motivational sessions focusing on women’s leadership and professional development. Distinguished speakers included Alka Mittal, former CMD of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Director (HR), who shared valuable perspectives on leadership and organisational growth.
Key discussions covered themes such as nutrition and wellness, professional grooming and etiquette, and the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in shaping the future workplace. Women entrepreneurs also shared inspiring stories of innovation and perseverance, including leaders from Ampere Vehicles and young agro-sector researcher Ruchi Jain of Taru Naturals.
A special highlight of the convention was the sustainability pledge taken by members of the WIPS Western Region, reaffirming their commitment towards environmental protection and responsible growth.
Participants from CCL described the convention as a valuable platform for learning, collaboration, and professional networking. The exposure gained is expected to inspire them to contribute with renewed enthusiasm, enhanced leadership perspectives, and stronger commitment toward organisational excellence.
