CCL wins two awards at the prestigious Star Rating Award Ceremony in Mumbai
The Ranchi-based subsidiary of Coal India Limited honoured for Amrapali OC Project and Birsa OC Project

The Ministry of Coal, on Thursday, organized the Star Rating Award Ceremony in Mumbai to honour coal and lignite mines for outstanding achievements in safety, environmental sustainability, and operational excellence.

Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), a Ranchi-based subsidiary of Coal India Limited, bagged two awards for its Amrapali OC Project and Birsa OC Project. The awards were received by CCL CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh.
In total, subsidiaries of Coal India Limited swept the event with 24 Five-Star Rating Awards, marking a strong recognition of their operational excellence.
Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy presented the awards in the presence of Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey and Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt.
On this occasion, the Ministry also launched the newly designed CCO Website and an Interactive Dashboard to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accessibility of sectoral information.
Two key frameworks were also unveiled at the ceremony:
- L.I.V.E.S – a practitioner’s guide for responsible and sustainable mine closures aligned with global standards.
- ARTHA – a Green Financing Framework to channel investments into reclaimed and eco-friendly mining projects.
Awards were additionally presented to winners of the Hackathon on Carbon Capture, Utilisation & Storage (CCUS) and R&D initiatives, reinforcing the Ministry’s emphasis on innovation in clean technologies.
In his keynote, G. Kishan Reddy lauded the award-winning mines for balancing energy security with safety and sustainability. He urged the coal sector to adopt innovation, coal gasification, and clean technologies while ensuring community-centric development, afforestation, and progressive mine closures in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of Aatmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat.
