CMD BCCL Participates in Tax Conference Organised by DITBA
The conference provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen dialogue between tax professionals, industry representatives, and tax administrators

Manoj Kumar Agarwal, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), participated in a Tax Conference on GST, Income Tax and Financial Reporting organised by the Dhanbad Income Tax Bar Association (DITBA) and the Dhanbad Indirect Tax Practitioners Association.
The conference was presided over by Tushar Kanti Satpathy, Chairman of the GST Appellate Authority. The event was attended by several distinguished dignitaries including Rajesh Kumar Jha, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Ranchi, and Sanjeev Kashyap, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Dhanbad, along with tax experts, professionals, and representatives from various organisations.
The conference deliberated on several contemporary taxation issues, including India’s rapidly evolving tax structure, GST audit provisions, analytics and litigation strategies, non-corporate reporting compliance transformation, and recent changes in the income tax system. The event served as an important platform for tax professionals to exchange knowledge, understand emerging challenges, and discuss innovative approaches to tax administration.
Addressing the gathering, CMD BCCL Shri Manoj Kumar Agarwal highlighted that Dhanbad, widely known as the “Coal Capital of India,” has historically been a key hub for the nation’s energy and industrial growth and is now gradually emerging as a centre for taxation, finance, legal, and professional services as well.
He noted that reforms such as GST implementation, faceless assessment, and digital tax administration have made the tax system more transparent and efficient, while tax professionals continue to play a crucial role in facilitating this transition.
Shri Agarwal also emphasised that BCCL, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, contributes significantly to the national exchequer through taxes, royalties, and GST. At the same time, the company plays a critical role in strengthening the country’s energy security by supplying prime coking coal to the steel industry.
He further stated that BCCL actively contributes to regional development through employment generation, infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and CSR initiatives. The company is also committed to promoting safe and sustainable mining practices supported by modern technology and strong corporate governance and compliance systems.
During the technical sessions, expert speakers shared their insights on contemporary taxation challenges and exchanged practical experiences with participants.
