Tributes paid to martyred coal workers as leadership reaffirms commitment to innovation, sustainability, and national energy security

The 51st Foundation Day of Coal India Limited (CIL) was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) Headquarters, Ranchi. The grand ceremony reflected Coal India’s legacy of service, dedication, and its vital role in powering the nation’s growth.

The celebrations commenced with the Chief Guest, Director (Finance) Pawan Kumar Mishra, and Director (Technical/Operations) Chandra Shekhar Tiwari, paying floral tributes at the Martyrs Memorial, saluting the brave coal workers who laid down their lives in service of the industry and the nation.

Following the tribute, Pawan Kumar Mishra hoisted the Coal India flag, while Chandra Shekhar Tiwari hoisted the CCL flag. Flags representing all regional units of CCL were also unfurled to mark the occasion. The ceremony continued with the rendition of the Coal India song, symbolizing unity and commitment, followed by the release of colorful balloons that brightened the skies with the spirit of celebration.

Addressing the gathering, Director (Finance) Pawan Kumar Mishra extended warm greetings to all Coal India employees and stakeholders, emphasizing the organization’s crucial role in sustaining India’s energy landscape.

“Coal India employees, while remembering their values and traditions, chart the course for the future. Coal, nuclear, and petroleum are the three major energy pillars of India, and coal—driven by Coal India—contributes nearly 80 percent. Coal remains the most affordable and accessible energy source, and Coal India and CCL are deeply committed to ensuring the nation’s energy security,” he said.

In his address, Director (Technical/Operations) Chandra Shekhar Tiwari lauded Coal India’s continuous evolution and adaptation to modern technologies.

“Coal India has been a beacon of innovation and progress. Over the past 51 years, we have achieved new milestones through modernization and the adoption of advanced mining technologies. Our journey is a testament to the belief that ‘Development is Never Ending’,” he stated.

On this occasion, tributes were paid to the martyred workers of Coal India and CCL, whose sacrifices and contributions were fondly remembered. The event saw the participation of general managers, department heads, officers, employees, labor union representatives, and a large number of coal workers, all coming together to celebrate the organization’s remarkable journey of five decades.
