Coal India Limited: Good news for all employees as Bonus Meeting to be held tomorrow

Coal India had moved the Hon'ble Court to seek relief for its 2.20 lakh strong workforce in view of Durga Puja

Happy days are here again for the 2,20 strong workforce of Coal India Limited and its eight subsidiary companies across the country. The top management of Coal India Limited approached the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta regarding the hardships workers may face due to non-payment of bonus during the Durga Puja celebrations.

The Calcutta High Court Double Bench consisting Hon’ble Justice Lanusungkum Jamir and Hon’ble Justice Rai Chattopadhyay said we are also conscious of the fact that the Durga Puja festival in the State of West Bengal is at the door-steps and accordingly, the interim order dated 22nd September, 2025 also stands modified as under:

“The Sixth Meeting of Standardization Committee of JBCCI-XI is allowed to be held in New Delhi or at any other convenient place only for the purpose of considering the issue of Bonus by allowing the Indian National Mine Workers Federation (INMF) represented by its Secretary General S.Q Zama/respondent No.1 in MAT 1635/2025 to participate in the said meeting as representatives of the Coal Mine Workers and not as representatives of INTUC.”

A seemingly relieved Director (HR) Coal India Limited, Vinay Ranjan, told www.indianpsu.com that now the meeting for bonus will be held in Kolkata, tomorrow, Thursday 25, 2025 as everything has been sorted out due to the Hon’ble High Court in favour of the workers of Coal India Limited and its eight subsidiaries.

This decision is seen as a big relief for employees across CIL and its subsidiaries, who were anxiously awaiting clarity on the Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) payout.
