Union Minister Launches New Uniform, Corporate Salary Package & Enhanced Ex-Gratia for Coal India Employees

The Corporate Salary Package (CSP), launched under the tagline “Suraksha Har Karmchaari Ki – United in Security, Empowered for the Future”

Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, today unveiled a set of landmark welfare measures for Coal India employees, including a new uniform, Corporate Salary Package (CSP), and enhanced ex-gratia benefits. These initiatives, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Workers First” and “Workers’ Welfare”, aim to strengthen financial security, dignity, and safety for coal workers across the nation.

Under Coal India’s “We Care” initiative, the ex-gratia compensation for mine accident fatalities has been increased from ₹15 lakh to ₹25 lakh, applicable to both regular and contract workers. The amount will be paid directly to the families of the deceased, ensuring timely and transparent delivery of support.

The Corporate Salary Package (CSP), launched under the tagline “Suraksha Har Karmchaari Ki – United in Security, Empowered for the Future”, offers a major boost to financial protection. The CSP includes ₹1 crore insurance coverage for regular employees and ₹40 lakh for contract workers. Already, 2.15 lakh regular employees and 44,000 contract workers have been enrolled under the scheme, implemented through MoUs with 10 public sector banks and Chhattisgarh State Gramin Bank. Notably, employees are not required to pay any premium, making it a fully welfare-oriented initiative.

The launch also featured the introduction of a new uniform for Coal India employees, symbolizing unity, professionalism, and safety culture across the organization — from underground and open-cast mines to administrative offices. The uniform reflects the shared identity, pride, and dignity of the Coal India family.

Speaking at the launch, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said these measures represent a comprehensive approach to employee welfare, combining financial security, social protection, and professional identity. They reaffirm Coal India’s commitment to building a secure, motivated, and valued workforce, recognizing coal workers as the backbone of India’s energy security.
