Coal India’s First All-Women Operated Central Store Unit Inaugurated at SECL Korba
Milestone in Women-Led Development under Government’s Special Campaign 5.0

In a landmark step towards empowering women in the core industrial sector, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), has inaugurated the company’s first fully women-operated Central Store Unit at its Central Workshop in Korba.
This pioneering initiative, launched as part of the Government of India’s Special Campaign 5.0, reinforces SECL’s continued commitment to “Nari Shakti se Rashtra Shakti” — strengthening the nation through women’s power. The milestone follows SECL’s earlier achievement of establishing Coal India’s first all-women-operated dispensary at Bilaspur, marking yet another step in advancing women-led development within the mining and energy sector.

The newly inaugurated Central Store Unit will handle spare parts supply and inventory management, entirely managed by a team of eight women officers and staff, led by Ms. Sapna Ikka, Senior Manager (E&M) and alumna of IIT (ISM), Dhanbad.
Equipped with a modern SAP-based digital platform, the facility ensures efficient, transparent, and technology-driven inventory operations—setting a new benchmark for inclusivity and innovation within Coal India Limited.
