Coal India Inter-Company Table Tennis Tournament Hosted by NCL Kicks Off in Grand Style

119 Players from 11 Coal Companies Compete | NCL Director (Finance) Rajneesh Narayan Inaugurates Event

The Coal India Limited – Inter-Company Table Tennis Tournament 2025–26 was inaugurated with great enthusiasm on Tuesday at the Amlori Area of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Miniratna CPSU under the Government of India.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by Rajneesh Narayan, Director (Finance), NCL, who attended the opening ceremony as the Chief Guest. Addressing the players and officials, he encouraged the participants to deliver their best performance while upholding the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and camaraderie. He emphasised that sports play a vital role in physical, mental, and spiritual development, and wished all teams success in the tournament.

A total of 119 players, including 18 women, from 11 companies of the coal sector are participating in this prestigious event. The participating teams include Coal India Limited (CIL) and its subsidiaries—SECL, SCCL, MCL, WCL, BCCL, ECL, CCL, CMPDIL, NEC, along with the host company NCL. The tournament will continue until January 8, 2026.

The event is being conducted across six competitive categories:

  • Men’s Singles
  • Men’s Doubles
  • Women’s Singles
  • Women’s Doubles
  • Veteran Singles
  • Veteran Doubles

For the team championship, the teams have been divided into two pools:

  • Pool A: NCL, MCL, CCL, BCCL, ECL
  • Pool B: SECL, CIL, SCCL, CMPDIL, NEC, WCL

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Corporate JCC Members, CMS Ajay Kumar, General Manager (Amlori Area) Alok Kumar, General Manager (Welfare) Rajesh Trivedi, members of the Sports Promotion Board, departmental heads, officers, and employees of NCL.

Notably, the indoor sports hall has been upgraded to international standards to ensure the smooth and professional conduct of the tournament. The event reflects Coal India Limited and NCL’s strong commitment to sports, fitness, and employee engagement, fostering unity, positive energy, and healthy competition across the organisation.
