Government Firm Against IndiGo – Issues Show Cause Notice to the Erring Airline
Air Travel Disrupted for Fifth Consecutive Day; Lakhs of Passengers Affected

Air travel across the country continues to remain severely disrupted for the fifth day in a row, causing massive inconvenience to lakhs of passengers stranded at airports nationwide.
What began as a series of operational breakdowns has now snowballed into a full-blown aviation crisis. IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has failed to restore normalcy, leaving travellers frustrated and angry as flights continue to be cancelled or delayed for hours.
Once known for its punctuality and operational discipline, the airline is now facing intense public outrage over its “reckless attitude” as passengers continue to lose valuable time, money, and energy.
Taking a stern view of the situation, the Government of India has swung into action.
DGCA Issues Strict Show Cause Notice to IndiGo
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a strongly worded Show Cause Notice to IndiGo, holding the carrier accountable for widespread disruptions and lapses in operations.
The aviation regulator has demanded an immediate explanation from IndiGo’s top management for:
- Large-scale cancellations and delays
- Lack of adequate passenger support
- Failure to deploy sufficient crew
- Poor contingency planning
- Violations of passenger rights under the Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR)
A senior official confirmed that the government is “not amused” by the airline’s conduct and is monitoring corrective measures closely.
