FSIB Recommends Asheesh Pandey And Kalyan Kumar As MDs For Union Bank of India and Central Bank of India

The final appointments will be made after approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) has recommended the appointment of Mr. Asheesh Pandey as Managing Director of Union Bank of India and Mr. Kalyan Kumar as Managing Director of Central Bank of India.

Mr. Pandey, currently serving as Executive Director at Bank of Maharashtra, is proposed to succeed Ms. A. Manimekhalai, whose three-year term at Union Bank of India concludes next month. Mr. Kalyan Kumar, presently Executive Director at Punjab National Bank, is set to take over from Mr. M. V. Rao, who is scheduled to superannuate from Central Bank of India.

The FSIB conducted interviews of 23 eligible candidates between May 27 and May 30, 2025, as part of its rigorous selection process for top leadership positions in public sector banks.

The final appointments will be made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, after due consideration of the FSIB’s recommendations.

The FSIB functions as the headhunting agency for selecting Whole-Time Directors and Managing Directors of state-owned banks and financial institutions.
