GRE Renew Enertech Wins 1 MW Grid-Connected Rooftop Solar Project at Rashtrapati Bhavan

SECI awards RESCO-model project reinforcing clean energy adoption in premier government institutions

GRE Renew Enertech Limited (GRE) has been awarded a 1 MW (1,000 kW) grid-connected rooftop solar power project at the Rashtrapati Bhavan by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The project will be executed and operated by GRE under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model.

Aligned with the Government of India’s clean energy and sustainability objectives, the project reflects the increasing adoption of renewable energy solutions across key public institutions. Under the RESCO model, GRE will undertake the complete responsibility for design, installation, operation and maintenance of the rooftop solar system, enabling solar power deployment without any upfront capital expenditure by the government entity.

Once commissioned, the solar installation is expected to significantly reduce the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s dependence on conventional grid electricity, contributing to lower carbon emissions and long-term energy efficiency.

Commenting on the development, Kamlesh Patel, Managing Director, GRE Renew Enertech Limited, said, “We are honoured to be associated with a project of national importance. This assignment reinforces our commitment to supporting India’s clean energy transition, particularly across public infrastructure.”

As per SECI’s scope of work, the project includes design, erection, testing and commissioning of the solar plant, along with comprehensive operations and maintenance (O&M) services for a period of 25 years. The O&M responsibilities cover preventive and breakdown maintenance, module cleaning, replacement of defective components, insurance, online monitoring and joint meter readings.

The project further underscores SECI’s role in accelerating the deployment of renewable energy across government assets while promoting sustainable and cost-effective power solutions.
