GST Officer Caught Red-Handed Taking Bribe Of ₹45,000 In Noida
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway

In a major anti-corruption action, a senior administrative officer of the GST Department in Noida was caught red-handed accepting a bribe. The officer, Satendra Bahadur Singh, was arrested by a team from the Vigilance Establishment, Meerut, on May 19, 2025, while accepting a bribe of ₹45,000.
According to officials, the bribe was demanded in connection with a pending tax matter of a local firm, Ramtek, based in Village Sallapur, Noida. The firm, which deals in computer repair services, was registered under GST in 2016. However, due to technical issues, the GST returns for 2016-17 and 2017-18 were not filed, resulting in tax dues of ₹4.55 lakh.
When the complainant approached the GST office to resolve the matter, Officer Satendra Bahadur Singh allegedly demanded ₹45,000 to “settle” the issue, warning that failure to pay would lead to the recovery of the entire due amount without any relief.
Following a formal complaint, the Vigilance Department laid a trap. As soon as the bribe was handed over on May 19, the officer was arrested on the spot. The vigilance team also seized crucial evidence, including bank account details and transaction records from an account in Gautam Budh Nagar where the bribe was allegedly to be deposited.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway.
The Vigilance Department has urged citizens to report any such instances of corruption. Complaints can be lodged at the vigilance helpline: 9454401866. Authorities have assured strict and immediate action against corrupt officials.
