The award was presented by Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, to the HPCL leadership team

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has been conferred with the prestigious “Best Innovation in R&D” Award by the Centre for High Technology (CHT) for its pioneering HP-Crude to Olefins and Aromatics Technology (HP-COAT) at the 28th Energy Technology Meet 2025, held in Hyderabad.

The award was presented by Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, to the HPCL leadership team in recognition of the company’s outstanding contribution to innovation and technological advancement in the oil and gas sector.

Developed by HP Green R&D Centre (HPGRDC), the HP-COAT technology marks a major breakthrough in refining technology by enabling the direct conversion of crude oil into light olefins and aromatics. This innovation enhances operational efficiency, reduces processing complexity, and offers significant economic benefits for the refining and petrochemical industries.

To advance this technology further, HPCL is establishing an 80 KTPA demonstration plant at its Visakh Refinery, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable growth and technological excellence.
