IIM Jammu Inaugurates Supervisory Development Programme for NHPC Officials
Six-day capacity-building programme focuses on leadership and managerial skills for NHPC supervisors

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu has commenced a six-day Supervisory Development Programme (SDP) for officials of NHPC Limited, a Government of India Navratna enterprise, at its campus on January 19, 2026. The programme will continue till January 24, 2026.
The programme was formally inaugurated with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean (Faculty & Research), IIM Jammu, and witnessed the presence of Programme Directors Prof. Pranab Ranjan Das, Dr. Eshika Aggarwal, and Dr. Garima Saini, along with other officials of the Institute.
The training programme has brought together 20 NHPC officials from across the country, all serving in supervisory roles.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Jabir Ali highlighted that IIM Jammu regularly conducts capacity-building programmes for Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), including SAIL, NHPC and NTPC. He emphasized the need to integrate managerial perspectives with strong technical expertise, particularly for professionals from engineering backgrounds. Encouraging experiential and peer learning, he urged participants to make full use of the six-day programme and to immerse themselves in the Institute’s serene academic environment.
Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, underlined the Institute’s strong and sustained collaboration with NHPC. Describing the SDP as a unique initiative, he said the programme aims to elevate participants to the next level of professional competence. He also briefed participants about IIM Jammu’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, including the Nalanda Library, and encouraged interaction with students to foster cross-learning. He further spoke about the Institute’s Open Management Development Programmes (MDPs), which enable cross-functional exposure among participants from diverse sectors. He added that the current programme has been custom-designed to meet NHPC’s specific organizational needs.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Pranab Ranjan Das, Programme Director, stated that the programme was developed in close consultation with NHPC to address the evolving supervisory and leadership requirements of its officials. He emphasized NHPC’s belief in the growth potential of its workforce and noted that the programme aims to prepare participants for higher responsibilities.
Welcoming the participants, Dr. Garima Saini, Programme Director, formally marked the commencement of the programme and extended her best wishes. The participants later introduced themselves and shared their expectations from the programme.
The inaugural session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Eshika Aggarwal, Programme Director, followed by the National Anthem. The programme is being coordinated by Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu.
