Inauguration Of Nitrogen Pressure Reducing Stations At RINL

Yet another initiative by RINL to increase productivity of Blast furnaces and reduce cost of production

Higher rate of injection of Pulverised Coal in Blast Furnaces facilitates replacement of high cost Coke with lower cost Coal and thereby reduces the cost of production and also will help increase productivity of Blast Furnaces.

In this direction RINL team has taken initiatives and put efforts to increase its PCI (Pulverised Coal Injection) rate from existing 100 kg/per ton of Hot Metal to around 180 kg/ton of Hot Metal in Blast Furnaces 1, 2 and 3 at Visakhapatnam steel plant.

Today, at a program held at RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam steel plant today, Shri AK Bagchi, Director (Projects) and additional charge Director (Operations), RINL, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant inaugurated the Nitrogen Pressure Reducing Stations to enhance Pulverised Coal Injection in all 3 Blast Furnaces. These new units will help in reducing cost of production of Hot Metal and also increasing the productivity of Blast furnaces at RINL.

Describing the event as a milestone, Shri AK Bagchi congratulated the Projects collective for their committed efforts in commissioning the Nitrogen Pressure Reducing Stations at Visakhapatnam steel plant.

Shri AK Bagchi said that reducing cost of production is need of the hour and added that such initiatives by RINL collective would facilitate towards making a “Turn around” of RINL, at the earliest.
