Indane LPG Booking Disrupted Nationwide as Calls Spike 8–10 Times, System Overloaded

Indane, the LPG brand of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, supplies cooking gas to over 15 crore households across India

LPG refill bookings under the Indane network have reportedly been disrupted across India after an unprecedented surge in customer calls overwhelmed the company’s booking system.

According to sources quoted by Moneycontrol, the volume of calls to the company’s IVRS and missed-call booking numbers has increased to nearly eight to ten times the normal levels, placing heavy pressure on the system and making it difficult for consumers to book LPG refills.

Massive Surge in Calls

Officials said the sudden spike in call traffic has slowed the booking process and caused delays for many users.

“As informed earlier, the number of calls we are receiving for LPG refill booking on our IVRS and missed-call numbers has increased significantly and is now 8–10 times higher than the usual volume,” the company said.

Waiting Period Extended

The surge in calls comes after the government increased the minimum waiting period for booking a domestic LPG cylinder refill from 21 days to 25 days.

The company clarified that there is no telecom-level restriction preventing customers from attempting to book before the 25-day period.

“As a result, every call made by customers is reaching the IVRS and missed-call booking applications,” it said, adding that the sudden spike in traffic has significantly increased system load.

Distributors Facing Crowds

The disruption has also affected LPG distributors across several cities, with many customers visiting their offices directly for assistance after failing to book cylinders through digital or phone services.

“The vendor invoice management system is also down. In addition, the supply of domestic cylinders has reduced by 50%, while demand has increased by 50%,” the distributor said.

Customers Reporting Delays

Consumers are also reporting longer delivery timelines.

An Indane customer in Ramamurthy Nagar said earlier deliveries were quick but now the wait has increased significantly.

“Earlier, I could get a cylinder within one or two days, but now even after a week of booking, there is no cylinder,” the customer said.

Alternative Booking Options

To ease the pressure on its systems, the company has urged customers to use alternate booking channels such as:

  • WhatsApp booking
  • The IndianOil ONE mobile application
  • Digital payment platforms like Amazon Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm

These options, the company said, may help consumers place refill requests more easily while the high call traffic continues.
