India Energy Week 2026 to Be Held in Goa from January 27–30
Global Ministers, CEOs and Policymakers to Convene on Energy Security, Investment and Decarbonisation

India Energy Week (IEW) 2026, the country’s flagship global energy event, will be held in Goa from January 27 to 30, 2026, bringing together global energy ministers, CEOs, policymakers, investors, technology leaders and academia at a critical moment for the global energy transition.
As the first major international energy gathering of 2026, IEW 2026 will focus on energy security, investment mobilisation and practical pathways for decarbonisation, amid rising global energy demand, geopolitical uncertainties and accelerating climate commitments.
The event is being hosted under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, and is jointly organised by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) and dmg events.
Global Energy Leaders from Over 120 Countries Expected
Building on the success of earlier editions, IEW 2026 is expected to witness participation from over 120 countries, reinforcing its stature as one of the world’s leading energy dialogue platforms.
The 2025 edition recorded:
- 68,000+ attendees
- 570 exhibitors
- 5,400 conference delegates
- 100 conference sessions
- 540+ global speakers
The 2026 edition is set to expand further with increased international participation, exhibitions and policy-level engagements.
India’s Growing Role in Global Energy Demand
According to the International Energy Agency’s World Energy Outlook 2025, India is projected to account for over 23% of global incremental energy demand by 2050, the highest for any country. Against this backdrop, IEW 2026 will serve as a critical forum for discussions on resilient energy systems, clean energy transitions and investment frameworks.
Delegations from the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific are expected, highlighting India Energy Week’s growing role in global energy diplomacy.
Focus on India’s Reform-Driven Energy Framework
IEW 2026 will spotlight India’s reform-led energy ecosystem, designed to balance economic growth, climate responsibility and consumer protection.
Key reforms under the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Act, 2025 and Petroleum and Natural Gas Rules, 2025 include:
- Single petroleum lease covering exploration, production and decarbonisation projects
- Time-bound approvals with lease decisions within 180 days
- Lease stability up to 30 years, extendable to field life
- Infrastructure sharing mechanisms
- Strong investor protection through arbitration and compensation safeguards
Clean Energy, Biofuels and Ethanol Blending in Spotlight – India’s ethanol blending programme, now considered a global benchmark, has delivered:
- ₹1.59 lakh crore in foreign exchange savings since 2014
- 813 lakh metric tonnes reduction in CO₂ emissions
- 270 lakh metric tonnes crude oil substitution
- ₹2.32 lakh crore paid to ethanol distillers by OMCs
- ₹1.39 lakh crore paid directly to farmers
- Discussions at IEW 2026 will prominently feature biofuels, green hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuels, and emerging low-carbon technologies.
Strengthening Infrastructure and Energy Security – India’s energy infrastructure expansion will be another key focus:
- Petrol pumps increased from 52,000 (2014) to over 1 lakh (2025)
- CNG stations rose from 968 to over 8,477
- PNG household connections expanded from 25 lakh to 1.59 crore
- Natural gas pipeline network grew 66% to 25,923 km
- City Gas Distribution now covers the entire country (excluding islands)
Consumer Price Stability Amid Global Volatility – Despite global fuel price volatility, India has maintained consumer price stability:
- Petrol and diesel prices in Delhi in 2025 remained lower than 2021 levels
- Central excise duty cuts of ₹13/litre on petrol and ₹16/litre on diesel
- Additional ₹2/litre reduction by OMCs in March 2024
- LPG prices for PMUY beneficiaries maintained at around ₹553 per cylinder, among the lowest globally
