No LPG Dry-Outs Reported; 52.3 Lakh Cylinders Delivered
Government ramps up enforcement, boosts PNG expansion, ensures stable fuel supply despite geopolitical pressures

The Government of India has reaffirmed that there are no LPG dry-outs across the country, with over 52.3 lakh domestic LPG cylinders delivered on April 11, ensuring uninterrupted fuel availability despite the evolving geopolitical situation in West Asia.
According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the government is closely monitoring developments in the region, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, and has implemented coordinated measures to maintain stability across energy supply chains, maritime operations, and citizen services.
Strong Enforcement Against Irregularities
Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have intensified vigilance through nationwide inspections. So far:
- Over 2,700 raids conducted on April 11 alone
- 219 LPG distributors penalised
- 56 distributorships suspended
These measures are aimed at curbing hoarding and black marketing of LPG.
Stable LPG Supply with Increased Digital Adoption
- No supply disruptions or dry-outs reported
- 98% LPG bookings now digital
- 93% deliveries authenticated via DAC system
Commercial LPG supply has been scaled up to 70% of pre-crisis levels, with special provisions for migrant workers through 5 kg cylinders.
PNG Expansion Gains Momentum
The government is accelerating the shift toward cleaner fuels:
- 4.24 lakh PNG connections gasified since March 2026
- 4.66 lakh new customers registered
- Over 30,000 consumers surrendered LPG connections voluntarily
City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies including IGL, MGL, GAIL Gas, and BPCL are offering incentives to promote PNG adoption.
Refinery & Fuel Supply Position Remains Robust
- Refineries operating at high capacity with adequate crude reserves
- Petrol pumps functioning normally with sufficient stock
- Government reduced excise duty by ₹10 per litre on petrol and diesel to shield consumers
Retail prices remain unchanged despite rising global crude prices.
Maritime Operations & Logistics Normal
Port operations across India are functioning smoothly, with no congestion reported, ensuring uninterrupted supply chains.
Advisory to Citizens
The government has urged citizens to:
- Avoid panic buying of fuel
- Use digital LPG booking platforms
- Adopt alternate fuels like PNG and electric cooking
- Conserve energy during this period
