While, the Railways Federations are satisfied with the decision taken by the government the Defence Employees Federation mainly, the AIDEF is not happy with the Government decisions.
According, to the AIDEF they will oppose any Pension Scheme which is of a contributory nature. They question as to why government employees should contribute towards their pension, since it is an inherent constitutional right of the employees to get a Non-Contributory Pension, which takes care of their Old Age Security.
AIDEF, President SN Pathak and General Secretary C. Srikumar, in a joint statement have stated that they will contact all like-minded organizations in the Central Government and State Government Employees and will carry forward the struggle to get back the Old Pension Scheme.
AITUC General Secretary Amarjeet Kaur in a statement issued today as criticised the Government decision to not restored the Old Pension Scheme. In her statement, she says that if the Government is very much concerned about the Old Age Security of its own employees then instead of taxing the employees by recovering 10% of their wages every month towards NPS & UPS, the Government should straight away contribute 28.5 % of the employees’ wages to the Pension Fund and restore the Non-Contributory Old Pension Scheme.
