Magellanic Cloud’s Subsidiary Secures ₹85 Crore Southern Railway VSS Project

Crosses ₹120 Cr Milestone in AI-Powered Surveillance Wins Achieved

Magellanic Cloud Ltd., through its wholly owned subsidiary Provigil Surveillance Limited, has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for the implementation of Video Surveillance Systems (VSS) across 441 D & E category stations and the augmentation of existing systems at 43 major stations (A1, A, and B categories) under Southern Railway.

Valued at approximately ₹85 crore, this large-scale project will enhance passenger safety through a cyber-secure, AI-enabled surveillance infrastructure across the railway network.

This comes on the heels of earlier wins: a ₹32 crore LoA from NHAI for AI-based surveillance on highways and a ₹2.25 crore LoA from South Central Railway. Collectively, these back-to-back achievements total nearly ₹120 crore, cementing Magellanic Cloud’s position as a leader in AI-powered surveillance and video analytics solutions.

Transforming India’s Transport Security Landscape

With 23 million daily passengers on Indian Railways and over 30 lakh vehicles crossing toll plazas daily, the scale of India’s transport network demands next-generation monitoring systems.

  • Southern Railway’s AI-Driven Surveillance Upgrade
  • IP-Based CCTV Deployment: High-definition cameras across stations and RPF/GRP posts.
  • Robust Networking Infrastructure: Real-time monitoring with advanced connectivity.
  • AI-Powered Analytics: Facial Recognition Software (FRS), anomaly detection, and rapid incident response powered by scalable storage and centralized Video Management Servers.

Aligned with Railways’ cybersecurity protocols, this upgrade sets new benchmarks for passenger safety and operational reliability, positioning Southern Railway at the forefront of secure and smart railway operations.

At a national scale, deploying such systems across 7,000+ stations could fundamentally redefine railway security and restore passenger confidence in rail travel.

AI-Based Toll Plaza Audits with NHAI

In parallel, NHAI is tightening toll plaza oversight after uncovering revenue leakages from unauthorised cash transactions. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed that while 98% of tolls are collected via FASTag, loopholes remain due to cash diversions and PoS device misuse.

As part of corrective measures, NHAI is considering AI-powered audit cameras at high-value toll plazas to independently count and classify vehicles, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

Provigil Surveillance, with its proven expertise in AI-driven video analytics, is well-positioned to support this national initiative, reinforcing seamless tolling, enhanced revenue assurance, and barrier-free highways.

“These back-to-back project wins of about ₹120 Cr highlight our strong capabilities in delivering large-scale, AI-powered surveillance solutions that meet the highest standards of safety and cybersecurity. With the Railways and NHAI projects as milestones, we are confident of expanding our footprint into airports, metros, and smart city projects, positioning Magellanic Cloud as a trusted partner in building safer infrastructure for India and beyond.” — Joseph Sudheer Reddy Thumma, Global CEO & MD, Magellanic Cloud Ltd.
