Swift Restoration of Airline Operations and Passenger Facilitation Measures by MoCA
The Ministry of Civil Aviation reiterates that passenger safety, convenience, and dignity remain the Government of India’s highest priority

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has taken swift, decisive action to address the disruption caused by the recent IndiGo operational crisis, ensuring passengers face minimal inconvenience. Air travel operations across India are rapidly stabilising. All other domestic airlines are operating at full capacity, while IndiGo’s services have improved significantly, with operations rising from 706 flights on 05.12.25 to 1,565 flights on 06.12.25, and expected to reach 1,650 flights by the end of today.
Airfare Regulation to Prevent Overcharging
In response to the temporary surge in airfares caused by widespread cancellations, MoCA has imposed an immediate cap on airfares to prevent overcharging and ensure affordability. Since this order came into effect, airfares on affected routes have returned to reasonable levels. All airlines have been directed to strictly follow the revised fare structure.
Passenger Refunds and Rescheduling Support
To safeguard passenger interests, MoCA has instructed IndiGo to process all refunds for cancelled or severely delayed flights by 8:00 PM today. So far, IndiGo has refunded ₹610 crore to passengers. Airlines have been strictly barred from charging additional fees for rescheduling travel impacted by cancellations. Dedicated support teams are actively assisting passengers to ensure seamless refund processing and rebooking.
Baggage Reconciliation and Delivery
MoCA has further directed IndiGo to trace and deliver all baggage misplaced during the disruption within 48 hours, with mandatory real-time communication updates. With this intervention, IndiGo has already delivered 3,000 pieces of baggage to affected travellers nationwide.
Airport Operations and On-Ground Facilitation
Airport Directors from major hubs—Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Goa—have confirmed smooth airport operations today. Passenger movement remains normal across terminals, with no crowding at check-in, security, or boarding zones. On-ground support has been strengthened through enhanced monitoring and coordinated deployment of airport staff and CISF personnel.
Real-Time Monitoring and Control Measures
The MoCA 24×7 Control Room continues to function as a central command centre, closely monitoring flight operations, airport conditions, and passenger support needs. Passenger calls are being promptly responded to, while teams remain stationed on the ground to supervise operational planning, crew rostering, and passenger-handling standards.
Reassurance to Passengers
The Ministry of Civil Aviation reiterates that passenger safety, convenience, and dignity remain the Government of India’s highest priority. India’s aviation network is swiftly progressing toward complete normalcy, and all corrective measures will remain in effect until full stabilisation is achieved.
MoCA will continue strict oversight to safeguard passenger rights and will provide further updates as necessary.
