MoD & BDL Sign ₹2,095.70 Crore Contract for INVAR Anti-Tank Missiles to Boost Lethality of T-90 Tanks
INVAR Anti-Tank Missile is a sophisticated laser-guided weapon system designed to enhance the firepower and lethality of T-90 main battle tanks

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract worth ₹2,095.70 crore with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for the procurement of INVAR Anti-Tank Missiles under the ‘Buy (Indian)’ category. The agreement was inked in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh at South Block, New Delhi.
The INVAR Anti-Tank Missile is a sophisticated laser-guided weapon system designed to enhance the firepower and lethality of T-90 main battle tanks, which form the backbone of the Indian Army’s Armoured Regiments. With a high hit probability and advanced targeting capabilities, the INVAR missile system is expected to significantly transform the conduct of mechanised warfare, providing a strategic edge to Indian forces in the battlefield.
This major procurement reflects the Government’s continued emphasis on achieving Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence manufacturing. By leveraging the capabilities of Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) like BDL and fostering the development of niche indigenous technologies, the Ministry aims to strengthen India’s defence preparedness and reduce dependency on imports.
