No DRDO Lab Will Be Closed : Chairman DRDO Assures Unions

In a meeting held on Friday, Chairman of DRDO, G. Satish Reddy told representatives of Bhartiya Pratiraksha Mazdoor Sangh (BPMS), that not a single DRDO lab would be closed in the country. On the contrary, he assured the union men that in addition to the existing 52 labs across the country, four to five new labs would be opened in the time to come.

Speaking to www.indianpsu.com, Mukesh Singh, the General Secretary of BPMS, said that the stress now, would be on more scientific development and work at DRDO labs. He said that core areas of stength and specialisation would be identified for each lab so that there is no duplication of work within DRDO laboratories. He said that they have been assured that neither any lab would be closed, not any retrenchment of staff would take place. He added that now emphasis would be laid on Laser, Cyber and Artificial Intelligence related work in labs of DRDO.
