NSDL Unveils New FPI-FVCI Portal, Simplifying Market Entry for Foreign Investors

The revamped platform offers a single-window interface for both FPI and FVCI registrations, eliminating multiple logins and manual interventions

The National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) has unveiled a revamped Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI) Portal and introduced a Foreign Venture Capital Investor (FVCI) Portal — creating a unified, digital platform to simplify and accelerate foreign investor participation in India’s capital markets.

The new system was inaugurated on November 7, 2025, by Dr. Ruchi Chojer, Executive Director, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), in the presence of Ms. Aparna Thyagarajan, Shri Rajesh Anand Gujjar, and senior officials from SEBI, NSDL, and the Designated Depository Participants (DDP) community during the 9th NSDL DDP Conference held in Mumbai.

Empowering Global Investors

The revamped platform offers a single-window interface for both FPI and FVCI registrations, eliminating multiple logins and manual interventions. It enhances transparency, speed, and traceability for global investors seeking entry into Indian markets.

Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) are overseas entities investing in Indian equities, bonds, and mutual funds — vital for capital formation and liquidity.

Foreign Venture Capital Investors (FVCIs) support innovation and entrepreneurship by investing in unlisted Indian startups and venture funds.

Key Features and Enhancements

  • Ease of Registration: Step-by-step guided workflows with validations and tooltips.
  • Traceability: Application tracking and audit trails ensure transparency.
  • Unified Interface: Combines FPI and FVCI functions, reducing duplication.
  • PAN Request Automation: Integrated APIs with Protean and API Setu enable turnaround in just 1–2 days.
  • Technology-Driven Design: Built on Angular, .NET Core, and SQL Server, ensuring scalability and 3–5 second load times.
