Awareness Session on New Labour Laws organizes by NTPC Bongaigaon

Assistant Labour Commissioner highlights key provisions of new labour codes; NTPC reiterates commitment to ethical practices and statutory compliance

NTPC Bongaigaon organised an awareness session on the New Labour Laws for Engineers-in-Charge (EICs), contract workers and Heads of Departments, aimed at enhancing awareness of recent statutory reforms and reinforcing compliance across the workplace.

The session was addressed by Ms. Parineeta, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Guwahati, who served as the resource person. She elaborated on the key provisions of the new labour codes and explained their implications for employers, contractors and workers. Emphasising fair labour practices, she highlighted the importance of statutory compliance, workplace safety, welfare measures and the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in ensuring a transparent and compliant work environment.

Speaking on the occasion, Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to ethical labour practices and strict adherence to statutory norms. He noted that awareness and correct implementation of labour laws are vital for maintaining industrial harmony, safeguarding workers’ rights and ensuring smooth project execution. He also encouraged officers and supervisors to actively engage with contractors and workers to ensure compliance at all levels.

Anurag Gupta, General Manager (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, highlighted the operational significance of complying with the new labour laws and their role in strengthening governance and workforce management.

The interactive session witnessed active participation from officers, EICs and contract workers, with detailed discussions and clarifications on the practical aspects of implementing the new labour codes. The programme reaffirmed NTPC Bongaigaon’s focus on capacity building, legal compliance and fostering a safe, fair and inclusive workplace.
