NTPC Bongaigaon Celebrates NTPC’s 51st Raising Day and Golden Jubilee with Zeal and Pride

The power station marked the milestone with flag hoisting, awards, a walkathon, and a mass plantation drive

NTPC Bongaigaon celebrated NTPC’s 51st Raising Day — also marking the company’s Golden Jubilee — with great enthusiasm at its Administrative Building. The event brought together employees, their families, and the local community through a series of engaging activities symbolizing unity, pride, and progress.

The celebration commenced with the unfurling of the NTPC flag by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, followed by a ceremonial cake cutting and the release of colourful NTPC-themed balloons to commemorate the significant milestone.

In his address, Maitra reflected on NTPC’s remarkable journey from its inception at Singrauli in 1975 to its present stature as India’s largest integrated power producer with an installed capacity exceeding 84 GW, spanning standalone units and joint ventures. He highlighted NTPC Bongaigaon’s contribution of 750 MW in powering the North-Eastern region round the clock, maintaining a Declared Capacity (DC) of 98.61%, and reaffirmed its operational excellence.

He also emphasized NTPC’s unwavering commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives across the North Eastern states and its strong focus on environmental conservation, while extending gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued support.

The event was graced by Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M); L.N. Meitei, Commandant, CISF; Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, along with senior officials, departmental representatives, members of employees’ unions and associations, welfare bodies, and Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club office bearers.

Recognizing the dedication of its workforce, NTPC Bongaigaon honoured six employees with the Power Excel Awards for their exemplary performance and commitment. Additionally, four employees designated as Master Trainers under the Rashtriya KarmYogi Training Programme of the Government of India were felicitated for their role in advancing learning and development at the station.

Adding to the patriotic fervour, employees came together to sing “Vande Mataram”, marking 150 years of the timeless song that continues to inspire generations with its message of unity and devotion to the motherland. The rendition added an emotional touch to the Golden Jubilee celebration.

Earlier in the day, a Walkathon was organized within the township, engaging employees and their families in a spirit of fitness and camaraderie. A mass plantation drive was also conducted, during which over 2,000 saplings were planted under the coordination of the Environment Monitoring Group (EMG) Department, reaffirming NTPC’s commitment to sustainability and green initiatives.

Established on 7 November 1975, NTPC has been at the forefront of India’s power sector transformation for five decades. Today, it stands as the nation’s foremost energy major, dedicated to generating reliable, affordable, and sustainable power for all. The company continues its journey toward achieving 150 GW of capacity by 2032, integrating thermal, gas, hydro, nuclear, and renewable energy sources to build a greener, energy-secure future for India.

The 51st Raising Day celebrations at NTPC Bongaigaon thus underscored the organisation’s enduring legacy, its deep-rooted community connect, and its forward-looking vision of sustainable growth and national service.
