NTPC Bongaigaon Hosts Regional Quality Circle Meet for Eastern Region II
Quality Circle teams from Eastern Region II stations showcase innovative O&M solutions to boost efficiency, safety, and operational excellence at NTPC

NTPC Bongaigaon successfully organised the NTPC Regional Quality Circle Meet – Eastern Region II at its township, bringing together Quality Circle teams from ER-II stations to showcase innovative practices and promote operational excellence.
The meet was inaugurated by Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director (ER-II & SR), NTPC Limited, in the presence of Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon; Shri Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon; and Heads of Projects from all ER-II stations.
Addressing the gathering, Arnab Maitra highlighted that participation by top Quality Circle teams from each ER-II station and their practically oriented themes would significantly contribute to productivity improvement across NTPC operations. He emphasised that Quality Circles play a crucial role in fostering employee involvement, strengthening problem-solving culture, and driving continuous improvement at the workplace.
Ravindra Sharma, GM (O&M) I/c, NTPC Darlipalli, underlined the importance of Quality Circles in enhancing operational reliability, safety, and efficiency. He noted that the structured approach adopted by teams in identifying issues and implementing solutions directly supports excellence in O&M and main plant operations.
During the meet, teams presented case studies on diverse Operation & Maintenance topics covering Boiler Maintenance, Ash Handling System, Generator Protection, CHP areas, and Chemistry. The presentations showcased practical innovations and data-driven, implementable solutions aimed at improving efficiency, reliability, and workplace safety across NTPC stations.
The event was evaluated by an eminent jury comprising B. P. Ramesh, Former GM, NTPC Limited; S. K. Trivedi, Senior Faculty, Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), Bhilai; and Ahmed Mustafa Chowdhury, AGM (Maintenance), NTPC Bongaigaon.
U-235 from the Chemistry Department, NTPC Bongaigaon, secured the First Prize for its impactful presentation and implementation outcomes. The Second Prize went to the Energy Team (EMD Department), NTPC Talcher Kaniha, while Techno Spark (EMD Department), NTPC Darlipali, received the Third Prize. Navchetna – NTPC North Karanpura won the Fourth Prize. Consolation Prizes were awarded to OptiAsh (Ash Handling Department), NTPC Darlipali, and Pratibha (C&I), NTPC Talcher Kaniha, for their commendable efforts and innovative approaches.
Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all participating teams for their active involvement.
The Regional Quality Circle Meet reaffirmed NTPC’s commitment to nurturing a culture of continuous improvement, employee participation, and operational excellence across its power stations.
