NTPC Bongaigaon Celebrates International Women’s Day 2026 with Enthusiasm

NTPC Limited’s Bongaigaon unit celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from women employees, members of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, women personnel of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and teachers from Notre Dame School and Ankur Tiny Tots School.

The programme was organised around the themes #GiveToGain and #SheLeadsBharat, symbolising empowerment, leadership and collective growth.

Addressing the gathering, Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, appreciated the dedication, resilience and achievements of women employees and acknowledged their significant contribution to the growth and success of the organisation. He emphasised the importance of fostering an enabling and inclusive work environment where women are encouraged to excel and contribute meaningfully to organisational progress.

Amit Kumar Asthana, HOHR, NTPC Bongaigaon, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the vital role played by women in strengthening the organisation and shaping a progressive workplace culture.

A key highlight of the programme was an engaging session on Financial Planning delivered by Priyanka Nahata from IntyGritty MoneyTree, an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor and financial advisory firm based in Bongaigaon. She shared valuable insights on financial awareness, smart investment practices and the importance of financial independence, particularly for women.

The programme also featured an Experience Sharing session, where participants spoke about their personal and professional journeys, inspiring others through their stories. A Women’s Day Quiz added a fun and interactive element to the celebration, with enthusiastic participation from the audience.

Another major highlight of the celebrations was the Women’s Premier League Cricket Tournament, organised for women employees, family members and members of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club in association with the Sports Council, NTPC Bongaigaon. The tournament, which commenced on the occasion, featured four teams named after the rivers of Assam — Brahmaputra Brigade, Champa Challengers, Manas Mavericks and Aie Aces — creating an atmosphere of excitement and healthy sporting competition among the participants.

The tournament will continue for the next ten days, encouraging wider participation among women in the NTPC township and promoting the spirit of sportsmanship.

The sports event commenced with a cake-cutting ceremony and the release of multi-coloured balloons by the participating teams in the presence of Shri Anurag Gupta, symbolising celebration and unity. A “Shakti Walk” was also organised, where the four teams walked together to promote the spirit of strength, solidarity and women’s leadership.

Another attraction of the programme was a demonstration by an electric vehicle manufacturer, who showcased electric scooters along with attractive offers for women employees of NTPC and other participants, promoting awareness about sustainable mobility.

The celebrations concluded with gift distribution, a group photograph and a cake-cutting ceremony, marking a memorable and inspiring observance of International Women’s Day at NTPC Bongaigaon.
