NTPC Unchahar Observes International Day Of Persons With Disabilities With Inspiring Events

Disability s not a limitation but a gift, Project Head, NTPC Unchahar

NTPC Unchahar organized a series of inspiring events on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, emphasizing that disability is not a limitation but a gift, as stated by Mandeep Singh Chhabra, the Project Head.

The highlight of the event was a mesmerizing performance by the ‘We Are One’ group, whose divyang (differently-abled) artists captivated the audience with their incredible talent and determination. These performances, ranging from wheelchair dances to depictions of Indian cultural unity through Bollywood, Sufi, Kathak-Bharatnatyam, and other dance forms, left everyone awestruck. The artists showcased stories of Indian valor, Bhagavad Gita teachings, and Mahishasuramardini, presenting a perfect blend of art, culture, and inspiration.

As part of NTPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, essential aids such as tricycles, hearing aids, and smart sticks were distributed to differently-abled individuals from nearby areas. A special moment was witnessed when Anuj Kumar from Mokhra village received a hearing aid and expressed his gratitude to NTPC, stating, “Today, for the first time, I have heard a sound — and that sound is ‘NTPC.’ I feel empowered and deeply thankful.”

A special program, “Meri Kshamataayein Hi Hain Meri Pehchaan”, was organized to honor NTPC Unchahar’s differently-abled employees. Their challenges were discussed, and solutions were promised to enhance inclusivity.

Speaking on the occasion, Chhabra remarked, “This day is about celebrating the extraordinary individuals who have turned their challenges into strengths. It reminds us to build an inclusive society where everyone gets equal opportunities to achieve their dreams.”

The event was attended by senior officials, including Ravi Prakash Agarwal (GM, Operations & Maintenance), Taruna Chhabra (Chairperson, Priyadarshini Ladies Club), and Ruma De Sharma (Head, HR), along with department heads, union representatives, and local community leaders.
