NTPC Unchahar Organizes Various Programs Under ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Fortnight

A health talk and quiz competition were also organized for sanitation workers

NTPC Unchahar has commenced the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ (Cleanliness is Service) campaign, hosting a series of cleanliness activities from September 17 to October 2, 2024. The event began with a ‘Swachhata Pledge’ ceremony, where the Project Head, Mandeep Singh Chhabra, administered the cleanliness oath to senior officials, employees, and contract workers, encouraging them to integrate cleanliness into their daily lives.

In his address, Chhabra emphasized that cleanliness is not only a personal responsibility but also a critical life value that has a profound impact on health, society, and the environment. He highlighted the role of cleanliness in reducing the risk of diseases and promoting both physical and mental well-being. He further noted that cleanliness is deeply connected to social responsibility, inspiring collective efforts toward building a healthier society.

As part of the campaign, NTPC Unchahar organized a health talk and quiz competition for sanitation workers, where they learned about the significance of hygiene and committed to adopting it in their daily routines. Additionally, more than 200 residents of the NTPC residential complex participated in a ‘Walkathon,’ demonstrating their collective commitment to cleanliness. The event also included the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree-planting initiative, marking a significant step toward environmental conservation. GM (Operation and Maintenance) Ravi Prakash Agrawal, GM (Operations) Rajesh Kumar, All HODs, Representatives of Union & Association and Senior Members and President of Priyadarshini Ladies Club Smt Taruna Chhabra were present during the above-mentioned event.

In the coming days, several other activities will be held under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ fortnight. These include an insurance scheme for sanitation workers, a health camp, a special cleaning drive at Gokarn Ghat, street plays, distribution of dustbins in villages, and a ‘Best Out of Waste’ competition. Moreover, school children will participate in a cleanliness quiz and slogan writing competition.
